Trebes is located about 10 minutes away from Carcassonne, and the magnificent medieval cite. The house is of solid stone structure and has been renovated in traditional style. In Trebes you will find all the basic facilities including a piscine, boulangerie, butcher, pharmacy, post office and good doctors. Trebes is well known for its port where holiday makers flock to hire boats to crawl through the little villages on the Canal du Midi. Also there are good restaurants at reasonable prices and local markets with lively activity. Carcassonne market will dazzle you with its Mediterranean specialties and of-course wines and cheeses. The local markets offer traditional quality produce, in season, grown locally and at reasonable prices. The Mediterranean resorts are 50 minutes away, where you can relax in the beach of Leucate plage or Gruissan. The Pyrenees are approximately 1 hour distance, again with excellent walking around the foothills and skiing in the winter. The beautiful city of Toulouse is an hour by car. A 5 minute ride takes you to a lake called 'Lac de Cavaillere' nicknamed 'Carcassonne Plage' by the locals with pedaloes and beautiful landscapes. The area is particularly suitable for walking and cycle rides especially along the "Canal du Midi".
